The two extremely successful campaigns on the right have been Youngkin and DeSantis. Both have run on “culture war is the big tent” platforms. There’s a lesson here. It takes some discipline to fight the culture wars and win. We've seen what DeSantis could do in four years with Florida. Curious to see what Youngkin can do in Virginia -- admittedly a much tougher nut to crack.

Candidate quality clearly matters.

The most expensive Senate race in history looks like it's electing John Fetterman.

During his victory speech, J.D. Vance specifically named 34 people for thanks/gratitude. Trump was not one of them.

I always liked Vance because his "Hillbilly Elegy" was such a great book. Wasn't sure about him as a candidate, but the Trump endorsement in the primary clearly put him over the top. After a rough start in the general, he finished convincingly tonight.

Not to mention Trump... bad manners or is he repositioning?

Virginia has to be crazy-hard to govern with the political extremes there. With all the self-important Fed bureaucrats who know they are "special" with their demigod jobs it's a constant struggle for State government. After all, the Federal Govt rules us all, just ask them.

NBC calls PA Senate for Fetterman. Trump's Dr. Oz endorsement probably cost us the senate. Trump is good at getting his pick's through the primaries but his batting average on carrying them across the finish line is pretty bad.

Oz is a terrible candidate. He doesn't relate. The stooge fund manager he beat in the GOP primary was no prize either.

Fetterman is a joke, but until the electorate declines to respond to sound bytes they'll be herded through the ballot boxes.
