Just committed to purchase the 375/350 that NTO is offering in the classifieds. Finding some info on it with an internet search, but any first hand experience someone would care to share would be welcome too. I've had 350 Rem Mag's and 375 H&H's, figured this would be interesting to mess around with. I don't ask cartridge's to be what they're not, figured on using lighter weight soft points and go forth...

Thanks in advance. Dean.

H20 case capacities per Chuck Hawks website:

35 Whelen 72.6 gr
350 Rem Mag 73.6 gr

That's only a 1.4% case difference

I'd look at 375 Whelen data for a starting point

I have Wildcat Cartridges (Wolfe Publishing) that has data for the 375 Whelen Imp. It has FF and "full house" loads for the 235 gr Speer. PM me and I'll scan and sent it.

I'm sure there are 24HCF members that have personal 375 data. Had a .375/338 (aka 375 Taylor). 338 Win Mag case has 16% more capacity than the 350 Rem Mag, though.

I shot .38-55 cast bullets (0.377" dia.) in my Taylor which was a hoot. I can give you some data for doing that using Unique and W231.

Finally got to the range with the 375/350. Settled on IMR4064 and Speer Hot-Cor 235gr bullets. Light little rifle lets you know when you pull the trigger and the 20" barrel really barks! But can't argue with the accuracy. Target was at 50 yards, first shot on it was the bullseye, moved it up a little from there. Scope is a Leupold Vari-X II 1-4x20 shotgun with the heavy duplex in Warne steel rings.

I was looking hard at that rifle too. I have a 350 rem mag and a Whelen, so rough estimates in starting load data seem like they can be extrapolated from 375 Whelen as they are between the two 35’s. Either way, cool rifle and cartridge!

Thanks!

The 375 Whelen AI is really close... so far. Heaviest bullets I'll use will be 250gr Barnes TTSX. And not looking to make it a 375 H&H, 375 Ruger or even a 376 Steyr. Just a nice thumper with a bigger diameter bullet. It's primary use will be WT either still hunting or from a stand. It really is a lightweight, very easy to use, rifle.

I built a 375 Whelen AI on a Mauser 98 action. It should be a ballistic twin to your 375/350. So far I’ve only shot some cast bullets, 235 grain SPEER, and some 270 grain Interlocks.

For most of my hunting I suspect the 235’s will work perfectly well. I also wouldn’t be afraid to shoot anything on this side of the world with the Interlocks. I have a couple different 300 grain bullets I think would do well in Africa. 300 grain CT being one of them. But now I’m too long in the tooth and know I won’t go there.

My favorite load is H335 and 235 SPEER bullets.

My Mauser has a steel Leupold aperture sight; I shoot metallic sights normally at 50 meters (54 yards by laser). This is the load:

375 Whelen AI, M98, 235 grain SPEER, 61 grains H335, 0.729" - five shot group which calculates to 1.29 MOA

That rifle is easier on my shoulder than my 350 RM Remington 600 with 250 grain loads.

Where this one "bites" me is the middle knuckle on the middle finger of my right hand. The trigger guard gets it. The stock isn't checkered (maybe it soon will be) and no matter how hard I grip it, it gets me. Wearing my leather shooting gloves does help.

I shoot the Sierra 2900s in the .375 SOCOM and the .375 Raptor.

I am fond of them, but they can be hard to find.

That is a very nice looking rig Dean...

This coming Saturday, the 19th, is the WI opener for the firearms deer season. I'll be set up in some heavy cedar trees, on the ground, with the 375/350 with the 235 Speer's. I'm well set with the Speers and Barnes. Tons of deer sign, and traffic, in the cedars, so looking to punch some WI deer tags! With the purchase of the "buck" tag, I was issued 6 anterless tags free! Gotta love the zone 2 farmland area! Not going to shoot all that, but should tell you how many deer are in the area...

Some 375/350 woes! Started experiencing extraction/ejection issues and just a "rough" bolt operation. Basically, the rifle is a single shot. Took it to my friend who is a very competent gunsmith and it's like the action isn't exactly lined up with the chamber and the extractor won't engage the cartridge. Seems the bolt face work is close, but not close enough. So looking for another bolt and maybe will have to spin another barrel on. Don't want to give up on the cartridge now that I have all kinds of components and dies and just really like it! Was hoping to use it on either a SE TX Nilgai hunt this year or a NW Saskatchewan moose hunt but doesn't look like it at the moment. Neat rifle I just don't want to give up on... yet.
