The 44, 45, and 41, that is. Here is my "delima": I currently have a 41 BH, the problem is it is blued. For my purpose I want something SS. I owned a 44 SBH, and just could not get used to the recoil shooting maxish loads. Now I mostly find my self shooting the 41 with 215s at 1100.
I would like to try a 45, but I already own all the stuff needed to reload the 44. Would there really be a diffence?

Just shoot slightly reduced loads in a .44 if you want .41 level recoil. Better yet just stick with the .41 mag.
Walk softly and carry a big bore!

Heck tomorrow will be Monday, pretty good excuse to buy a new handgun in my book. If you reload Just get that SS .44 and load down to your .41 load OR MUCH BETTER look hard for a SS .41 and stay with the best. Regards, Pete
Handgun Hunter no more. STILL LOVE THOSE .41's

The only SBH's made in .45 Colt were Hunter models made for Lipsey's and those are few and far between now. Myself, I'd opt for a 45 Colt BH, or better yet one of the Acusport Bisleys. While made in .41, they're hard to locate while the 45 Colt ones are readily available. Stick with a 45 Colt. You can go from mild to wld with just factory loads. If you're really in need of maxi loads for a .44 mag, then why even consider one, simply go the next step to begin with. I gotta add, i own each of the above mentioned stainless lipsey's and Acusort mdoels and would definatly choose one of those. My favorite is the 45 Colt Acusport model.

They're a lot like the 270, 280, and 30-06. I'd stick with the one you have. You're already loading it down, which is what you'd do with either of the others. Get one in SS if you must, but I doubt you'll gain anything meaningful by changing to a 44 or 45.

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

FWIW:
I bought the 44 for convenience -- its everywhere.
I load 240 grain boolits to 1200 fps and don't sweat anything else. Recoil is acceptable.
I figure the 1200 FPS worked for Elmer Keith, so it is fine.

I shoot Ruger SA revolvers in .45 Colt (two of them) and .44 Mag. Only on rare occasions do I use a handgun as a primary hunting weapon though. Either of these calibers will do the job on the hogs and deer I hunt.

Hmmm, I already offered up the 41 in a trade. If that trade goes through I will look for something different in SS. If the trade doesn't go through I will just keep it.

I see nothing wrong with your BH .41 Magnum. So what if it's blued, you'll add some character to it by carrying it and exposing it to the elements. If that kills you, just save up for a year or so to buy a "purdy" replacement.

I had shot a friend's 44 just enough to know that I did not really want to shoot one for extended periods with max loads. And since I am a bit of a fan of under appreciated cartridges anyway (264 Win, 260 Rem, 30 Rem, and 7mm STW) I bought a SBH in 41 mag as my first handgun. If you look hard enough you can find the 41 in SS. I chose the Bisley Hunter model. And I really enjoy it. I prefer the extended grip and rounded trigger guard of the bisley vs the regular SBH. I shoot it with the 2X Nikon in place about half the time.
