Has anyone used Black Hills Gold? I've only ever used Fed Gold Medal Match but have heard that Federal's quality control has been suffering recently. I've never had a probelm with Federal so it may be a moot point.
Thanks
Mac

BH makes some superb stuff, there's no doubt. However I'd let your barrel tell you which flavor it prefers, then I'd stock up on that same lot #.................

mac84,
Are you refering to the BH hunting ammo line or target/tactical line? I thought the Gold line from BH was loaded with X bullets. FGMM is loaded with the Sierra HPBT Match Kings.
But I will second what Stick said, both are excellent performers.
Good Luck

I've shot match grade in both quite a bit. Big Stick is right that your rifle will tell you what it likes best. However if I were going to hedge my bets, my vote goes to the Black Hills. As a side note just yesterday I shot a bunch of Winchester .308 match grade ammo. It was extremely accurate!
Is it Friday yet?

Thanks everyone! I'll give the Black Hills a try. I know how the FGMM flys out of my rifle. The BH will be a good excuse to go to the range:)

My hunch is the BH will get the nod..............

I had REALLY good luck with the PMC 168 grain match. Not a hunting round. It was much more accurate than the Fed GMM out of my rifle.
On a side note, a friend of mine teachs a Precision rifle course at a fairly large shooting school and he stated that the PMC and BH was doing better than the Fed.
