I don't currently own a 243 but if I decide to ever get one you can rest assured it will be in the creedmoor variant. Why would I pay the same for less? The creedmoor has without a doubt hurt future 10 twist sales tremendously IMO

How much damage has the 6.5 Creedmoor done to the 243 Win? . Not one little bit. My .243 is still in great shape!

Trystan Only a stupid Fugk like you would still intentionally shoot a .243 twisted 1-10”. LOL.

None whatsoever. I don’t own either and probably never will. To each their own!

Hornady can't keep up with the demand for their bullets. That doesn't sound like smart business. Stick to bike riding

I started guiding mule deer hunters when I was in my early teens, in 69 or so. Ive sure seen a lot of nice mule deer taken by hunters with .243’s since. I like em.

my 6.5 hasn't damaged my 243 at all as far as I can tell. And they stand right next to each other in the safe!

I had a 12 twist 243 that shot 80 grain GMX lights out. But it was heavy. And wouldn’t even group the shorter 100 grains.
Anyhow... I wanted a lighter rifle with more versatility. Nothin fancy. A utility rifle. Thought about a Swede or a Creed. The idea of a long bullet sounded good. More for it’s thumping penetration than the advantage of BC for super long range.
Checked out some cheap plastic rifles in the Creed. But the stocks were too flexible. And I already had a pile of 243 ammo. Found a deal on a 9 twist Salvage Model 10 with a slick action and a much sturdier plastic stock. It’s ugly. But I like the tang safety. And the weight is just right. Even though it’s pretty light, there’s very little muzzle jump. Easy to shoot. And so far it shoots everything well. Some day I’ll try some 105 boat tails.
There’s nothing too big for a 243 around here. And if by chance I get to hunt a little farther west, it’s legal for NM, CO, and west Texas mule deer. So while the 6.5 might be slightly more ideal if the western hunting were the main goal, it wasn’t really more ideal for me at the time.
