Just got an ad from PSA advertising a closeout on "Taylors Company" (personally, never heard of them before) 10mm 1911's for $400. The other day I got the same sort of thing from them for 9mm 1911's (same brand) for $379 (iirc). Anyone looking for a cheap 1911 to play with in either caliber, there you go. I don't know anything about them. From what I can gather they are made in The Phillipines.

Yep. Is apparently made by Armscor (same as RIA). These ARE $600 plus, elsewhere on the web. They also have the 9mm for $329 (several upgrade features, over a standard 1911).

The P.I. made 1911 platforms are a pretty good value for the price. Bear in mind if you want them to perform as well as a Springfield, Colt, etc... that costs 2-4X as much, you'll have to put some money into them with aftermarket triggers, springs, sears, and some gunsmithing.

If you just want something inexpensive to shoot targets and hone your skills with, they're hard to beat for the money.

They (RIA) USED to be 1/3-1/2 the price of a Springfield/Kimber/et al. These guns (in 9mm and 10mm) are $600 plus guns, currently. That’s why the $329/$399 price is darned decent. For a range toy, it beats $900 on a new Kimber.

That is good price especially for 10x25. Parts can break, but they are available at reasonable prices.
