I've got a Beretta aluminum Picatinny rail to attach to a Beretta A400 aluminum receiver, and wouldn't you know the Beretta web site where I ordered it doesn't give recommended torque values for the screws. And no info in or on the package.

There's lots of info in a Google search for steel receivers, but I'm not seeing any for aluminum.

Any recommendations before I spend days waiting for a response from Beretta customer service?

Browning (I know, they aren't Beretta) says no more that 18 inch pounds on aluminum. I use blue locktite and 12-15 inch lbs. Never had any come loose.

If you use a liquid thread lock, put it SPARINGLY on the screw threads only, then let dry before torqueing the bolts - if you don't the thread lock in a liquid state will serve as a lubricant until it dries and will allow you to over torque/tighten the screws. With that, I've done at least a couple of hundred scope base and ring mounts and I have never heard of properly torqued cap screws into aluminum coming loose. If you over tighten them the steel screw threads will begin to distort and even strip the aluminum screw holes.

When I posted the torque I was under the assumption you were mounting a picatinny rail to a receiver that was drilled and tapped. (Browning aluminum receivers are drilled and tapped but have steel threaded inserts.) But I see the Beretta A400 has a grooved receiver top. So will you be mounting a rail with horizontal screws?

Is this what you are mounting?

If you are, I wouldn't use locktite on that. I've mounted similar rails on aluminum receivers. I'd use a torque wrench to make sure each screw is equally snug. 25 inch pound would probably be entirely sufficient. It's way less of a pain to dmaage a rail than it is a receiver. Overtightening, though, may cause the clamps to dig into the aluminum grooves.

No sir. It's this.

I've got the A400 Xtreme plus. Drilled and tapped for four screws. Haven't put it on yet, but it will wear a Fastfire II.
