Went to Walmart yesterday because I was getting low on a few things and also needed to replace my 30 yr old deep fat fryer… Fryer was pretty reasonable at $23.54 when I got to the grocery isles, schitt changed in a hurry… Generally, when I go for groceries, I just stick to the basics… milk, bread, lunch meats, etc. yesterday I needed to replenish my crisco stash for the new fryer…Guess how much for the medium sized 3 lb. can???
$9.26…
A jar of my favorite sliced peaches …Dole 23 oz jar… $4.12
“Great Value” coffee large can… $11.48
Near as I can tell, MOST food stuff is up at least 30% but some stuff has doubled in price…

No. Biden says inflation is down.

Inflation is a word the republicans taught people, nobody ever said 'inflation' until the republicans mentioned it over & over.

Look it up in an old dictionary. It's actual definition is increasing the money supply ("printing" new dollars) to fund government.

Rising prices are just the inevitable result of inflation. They're not inflation itself. Inflation happens first. Rising prices happen in response.

I was at a fast food store the other day, and thought I would pick up a couple of twinkies for the wife. Holy crap! 4.25 for 2 darn twinkies! I buy them like twice a year. Not this year....

There’s other grocery stores besides wal mart and food lion
Farmers market and such are reasonably priced
Not stocked as well maybe , but I find good meat selections and most stuff the box stores got .
But if you want to shop appliances and groceries in the same store
I guess you gotta go with one of the box stores
Kenneth

Food lion a couple weeks ago had 18 pack modelo’s on sale for 16.99
When was the last time you got beer across the counter for less than a Buck a piece ?

A good part of that is the cost of shipping - when diesel's $5+/gallon, it costs a LOT just to get something from point A to point B...

To my surprise a 2 lbs. can of Great Value Ground Coffee is still $5.20 per can.

Another thing that’s noticeable in our area stores is just how lacking the shelves are of food products. It gets more apparent month after month. The stores are even getting more strategic in how they stock the shelves to make them look full when they’re probably half full.

Interesting that 2023 EBT C.O.L.A. raise is 12-1/2%.

Approximately 1/3 more than the SS C.O.L.A. raise ...???
