I would shoot that buck any day of the week in the public places I hunt. You should have mentioned it was your son’s targeted buck. Good for him a little restraint in a teenager is never a bad thing.

I have a very simple rule when it pertains to bucks, if your not going to have it mounted don't shoot it. Mines even simpler….. Cant eat the horns. Bang flop that mofo. #bonecollector #meateater

I follow a FB group for bucks killed in MS.
I hunt one area, gives and idea of what the state is capable of.
Some real brutes come from the delta. They still farm. We try to grow monsters with pine cones. 😂🤣
Folks will post pics of great deer, maybe not Michael Waddle or Keith Warren class bucks…
First comment “he’d be a good ‘un next year”
That one won’t……
He’s going in the skillet….

I have a very simple rule when it pertains to bucks, if your not going to have it mounted don't shoot it. I have an alternate rule. Don't shoot it if you aren't gonna eat it. The buck in the OP looks like a freezer filler to me.

Well no, I don't want to blow up your camera..... Agreed. That'd be dumb.

From what I can tell about the pic and if he were here around my places I'd let him mature. Managing what we have here depends on culling does more and it's working.

A little on the 'leaner' side as to body size but in my opinion not a bad rack at all. It's just genetically predisposed to grow upright instead of horizontal main beams with width being the most desirable of the two among "Trophy" rack hunters.

I killed the real wide deer out of same stand a week or so ago and left the area alone.I call that 50 acre sector the “promised land” my big wide deer fell there a week or so ago.The majority of the bucks I kill are from that one stand it’s his buck to kill I’d dust his ass any given day I’m watching what jr can do 🙏🙏

Compared to what I have been seeing this year, I wouldn't be able to pull the trigger fast enough.

If its on my place, no. If somewhere else, yes. On our place I would save him for the kids and grandkids. My 10 year old grand daughter could shoot him. We don't shoot any doe deer and only good bucks and darn few of those. We do kill hogs by the dozens every year though.

If I wouldn’t shoot that deer, I wouldn’t roll my ass outta bed to go hunting. Mark me down as a YES! I agree with ya,would take the shot that's an ok buck for my area. Hunting season is long down here somebody else will shoot it if you don't.

I have a very simple rule when it pertains to bucks, if your not going to have it mounted don't shoot it. I would never kill a deer if I stuck to that rule. Never been too impressed with mounts. Not knocking what others do but it takes a hell of a deer to get me too excited.
