First deer of the year always means fresh ground burgers with fried onions. Nothing tastes better.

Venison neck barley soup. Before anyone gets their chitt in a knot, this is a CWD-free area. We trim the neck meat when we butcher but there’s always a lot left that can only be got by cooking. Use your favourite beef barley soup recipe in the pressure cooker, then just shred the meat off the bone when it’s done.

whitetail tenderloin at "high heat" haha. Tried one for the hell of it, my son liked it so well I just kept doing it till he was full. Dusted it with Johnny's and held in front of the forge. Damn that was good stuff.

Cross rib roast braised in beef stock with onion, garlic, and Serrano chiles, ranchero beans. Chicken in a pot is for . . . whatever.

Damn that was good stuff. I’ve done that while winter camping with beef tenderloin over a campfire. Incredible.

Shepards pie, before adding the potato's Would you mind sharing the recipe? In what form do you add the potatoes? In slices or mashed?

Ham and potato soup. Slavyanka asked how I made it so fast. I put the leftover ham bone in the Instant pot with 1 litre of chicken soup stock, then set it to pressure cook for an hour. Meanwhile, we went grocery shopping. When I got back, I pulled the ham out of the broth, reheated the stock in the IP while I peeled the potatoes and bunged it all in. Meanwhile, I chopped my celery, carrots and onion and had it sauteing while I shredded the ham. When the veggies were done I stirred in flour for roux, then tossed it all into the potatoes and broth to finish. And, damn, it tastes good!! Cook time (aside from Instant Pot) - less than 1/2 hour
