What thoughts do you guys have on reaming to the K? I read it helps brass last longer but most stated the velocity gain was not that big of a deal. I have 3 rifles in 22 hornet and thought about converting one. How would conversion affect resale value? Would you attempt reaming it yourself or send it out to be done? Any suggestions on gunsmiths to do the work? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

i have 4 K-Hornets i do like them better they seem to load a little more accurate ,the speed difference is very little. Mule Deer knows much more than myself if it was a Ruger # 1 which i do own i would not make that a K-Hornet some rifles for resale value probably should not be reamed to a K-Hornet . my favorite is a Ruger 77 s.s. with a clip[/magazine that trigger has been redone and chambered into a 22 K-Hornet killed a lot of critters with this rifle ,this rifle hangs in the garage all year long . i had not shot this 22 K-Hornet rifle since august and yesterday November 24 th at 10 degrees and some snow on ground shot a big possum was a bang flop kill . buy Mule Deer`s new book that just came out called Gun Gack lV by the famous John Barsness the book will explain the difference in a 22 Hornet and K-Hornet and many other helpful cartridges too. good luck Pete53

I sure do not have any problem with brass life in my three standard 22 hornets. Two are Anschutz bolt guns and one is an 1885 Win reproduction.

I like my M77 K-Hornet, but I really don't know what I gained by going so besides some velocity and getting rid of a possibly sloppy factory chamber. There isn't enough recoil or muzzle blast to say I gained anything there over the standard Hornet. I had Dan Coffin in Victor, MT do the work. For resale, I'd imagine some people may pay more for it assuming it isn't a classic like a pre-64 that you ream out. Then, I am sure you'd loose money if you tried to resell it but only due to collector value.

I like my K-Hornet. Not because of better case life, velocity, or accuracy but because mine was rechambered to K by Lyle Killbourn himself, the inventor of it. That kind of thing means something to me. Being a minty Model 54 Winchester it would be worth more if in its original chambering, but on the other hand the fact that it was altered made it much more affordable to me. A win-win situation, as far as I'm concerned.

I've had both, and I didn't see enough difference, that I would make another K-Hornet. For me the regular Hornet was a better situation. To each their own.
