I don't shoot bucks under about 150". What do you guys shoot?

Depends on whether or not I have a Doe tag.

Everything but a fawn.

I don’t bring my tape measure in the woods I shoot what I want to shoot

Deer.

Quality is what one decides it is for them.
I got a 156 7/8ths gross 155 net 10 pt 210 pds dressed out on the wall upstairs.
Shot in T34MD in Maine fall of 2000.
Won't mount another until a bigger one score wise is killed
Have seen bigger down here in TN and FTCKY but have not gotten the couple of seconds to get the crosshsirs on em, or I really fuuuked up and blew the moment, or a random oh schit encounter on the deer and me.

Lotta age progression happening last 5 to 7 yrs in this area in TN.
Lotta big mature bucks on FTCKY also.
Lotta places on FTCKY where deer die of old age also.

A good buck to me is something outside its ears down here and 3.5 to 4.5 yrs or older.
I shot a 10 pt 4 or 5 yrs ago on ftcky.
The bio,s aged it at 6.5 plus and said they thought the deer was 8 yrs old, but their tooth aging chart only went to 6.5.
It was on the backside of its antler growth.
Shot a 8 on post this year that deer was at least 5.5 yrs old.
Shot a 10 yesterday 3.5 maybe 4.5
8 was 141 green score, 183 pds dressed out
10 looks like a 130 maybe 135 score, 162 pds dressed put

Have shot alot of 120 to 150 dressed out bucks that score from the mid 120,s to low 140,s here also.

It's all what someone,s goal is they call a good buck and what the opportunity is in their area.

When Me and Grady went over to the butcher yesterday and he was picking up the tab on the carcass.
Their was a 12pt that was at least a 160 class deer their.
I should have got a pic of it.
Wasn't thinking after the adventure of getting mine out of the woods


Last year when we dropped off slumlords 11 pt at the taxi which is a 145 150 rack easy.
The place was full of 150 to 180 class heads waiting to be mounted and was really encouraging to see.
I hadn't been in that Taxi place for 4 or 5 yrs with him.
A marked difference in age progression during that time frame from what I remember.
Alot of bucks here are dressing out at the 180 to just over 200 mark now.
Which was pretty much unheard of legendary schit around here 7 to 10 yrs ago.
Most times a good buck around here is from 130 to 150 dressed and the antlers are like a box of chocolates on em.

Alot of these big racked and big body bucks come from private land.
Alot don't.
And bucks wander miles upon miles in the fall looking for does.
So you never know what might have satellited into a area a person hunts from day to day .

We antelope hunted around Gillette Wyoming several years ago. Talked to 2 different ranches about getting on them to hunt, both were over 20k acres.

We push em outta the swamps and such. Hard work but rewarding.

This year I got my first with my great grand father’s .25-20. He was on the run about 175 yds out in the spine I rolled him. Second one I got with my buddy’s uncle’s former roommates Mossberg 22 at just over 200 yds. Right behind the ear.

Just another year for me.

How many 150” deer have you killed??
