Looking for a reasonably priced bolt action 22LR for my daughter. Something like a bergara, tikka, christenson, etc. May also consider a Ruger American or similar. She has been shooting my old 10-22 and enjoying it so i would like to get her something of her own.

If you end up going with a semi-auto like your 10/22, I'll be listing a Remington 241 soon

I just remebered, I will also be listing a Mark xxii. Both have some minor cosmetic issues, mainly with the barrels. They went thru a garage fire.

If she’s already familiar with your 10/22 why not buy her one of those?

Just a thought, but maybe she would appreciate you rifle as a gift more than a new one. Then you can buy whatever you want and if she likes your new one more, just trade with her.

Having recently been shopping for similar .22 rifles, I would probably put the Bergara BMR carbon at the top of my list for a young lady in second place would be a Tikka T1x. Both have a good reputation for accuracy. Personally, I like a bolt action for younger shooters as it tends to emphasize markmanship for accuracy over plinking fun. Good luck and I'm sure your daughter will appreciate whatever you get her.

Unless it needs to be pink, I wouldn't give someone a plastic rifle...Tom

Thank you all for the replies and thoughts. I am going to check a few of these out. Regarding the 10-22 vs bolt, i would prefer her to get started with bolt for safety and marksmanship as someone indicated above. I just personally dont think a semi auto is the best choice for starting out. Thank you again and please keep options flowing.

I did come across what i think is a really good deal on a ruger precision rifle bullets in 22. I am reluctant to get her a “black rifle” for a first rifle. I am sure it would be a great shooter. Any thoughts or experience with this?

Having them learn the mechanics of how to operate a bolt, safety, , iron sights, and slowing down a bit helps point them in the right direction for focusing and making accurate shots. I have both of my little ones in the little cheapie savage rascals, and they are surprisingly accurate. My daughter is 10 and she is deadly with it and other bolt rifles. She is ready to take the next step in her rifle. The only reason I don’t have her on a double action revolver for a handgun is purely because of her reach and hand strength doesn’t quite get her there. Good luck with whatever you get

I have a nice older Marlin bolt with detachable magazine. Shorter barrel, nice wood and reasonable. Can't remember model# off the top of my head, but will forward pictures and more details Monday if interested.. Good luck, Ed

I have a single shot Remington that needs sights, but is otherwise decent. I'd let it go pretty cheap

Thanks ClayBelt but I think she will be happier long term with something that holds multiple shells.
