Sorry Neal, I just saw this. No quail and it hasn't been cold and no ducks on the Pecos and there was not enough rain east of Midland to put water in the shallow palaya lakes so no cranes and leaves are still on the brush and the muleys aren't moving.

Around 4 yesterday evening.
I've been taking her out to a farm we hunt over the past 2 weeks trying to find her one that meets her standards.

It's a farm with views that we can spot and stalk.
Saw him and a smaller buck run a doe in to the cedars about 350-400 yards out on the left.

She went down and across the bottom, I went left above the cedars and then pushed down.

Last pic from the stand yesterday afternoon; last day of the 2022 general firearm season here. I didn't see dick again, aside from squirrels and one coyote that was way too far out to take a crack at.



ML season is this Friday-Sunday... doubting it will go any better. The deer have just sort of evaporated over the past several years. So many treelines have been torn out they don't move out of the riverside tree breaks much anymore.

What REALLY sux:
This farm has been longterm leased for solar.

My good friend from childhood I and others have been playing, camping and hunting this farm all of our lives.

His non-farming aunt is the only remaining sibling of the owners[his grandfather then father, uncle & aunt owned it jointly].
Originally just over 1,000 acres[now we hunt 600+] with about 1-2 miles of Little River frontage[floatable].

The solar company leased it 2 years back and also bought the timber rights at high prices.
We think that is what is holding up the start[low current timber prices].
Just hoping this wasn't the last year to hunt it.
