My pole saw oiler tank broke off & the replacement part is not available anymore. My current one runs off my weed trimmer as an attachment & I've been looking at the battery operated ones. My local Ace Hardware store sells Stihl products & they have a model HTA 85 for $499. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you are a Milwaukee guy their 18 volt one works great.
I've have one and use it quite often.

I got an Echo a few years ago. Hardly ever use it. Still on the original chain. It's broken twice and this last time it cost too much to repair to even be worth it. Now it's sitting on the shop floor. Not sure what to do with the POS. What an albatross.

I got the Husqvarna model this past summer and I love it. Starts easy, cuts great, plenty of power etc. I was waaaay behind on tree trimming, so it has gotten a lot of work. It will quickly put a lot of work on the ground.

Stihl is very knowledgeable about gas powered saws, but the electric part should be of interest here, & Stihl is very new to that. And $499!?!?

Milwaukee or Dewalt for the win IMO, & the Dewalt Max XR is rated at or near the top in most test. About $220.

I don't own one, but have been researching & since I have other Dewalt tools I need batteries for, adding another tool & getting some new batteries seems like the way to go. You have any other battery operated tools? Compatibility is important to me when applicable.

Echo 2620 or 2620H. You won't be disappointed. They are gas motors.

I have a DeWalt- been awesome. Love it but am not doing heavy duty stuff. That doesn't mean I don't use it a lot, I just don't try to cut down oak trees with it. It is hell on (meaning great) small cedars and things that need clearing.

I've a 18V Ryobe - 8" bar. I don't consider it a HD commercial grade type unit tho or use it as such. It's sufficient for my needs.

I’ve ran my Echo quite a lot this past year. Nary a problem thus far.

I wish I had gone the battery operated route though. The gas powered saw gets awfully heavy and awkward holding it overheard for any length of time.

i purchased a Milwaukee fuel pole saw works well for me came with a leaf blower package deal too . i have the Milwaukee fuel drill set so this pole saw worked out even better got more batteries combined with both of these kits.

The amount of attachments available for the Milwaukee pole saw is insane, don't buy one tool for one purpose. I have the polesaw, the weed Wacker, the lawn edger, if you have a driveway you keep clean then the power broom is a absolutely amazing tool. I bought the stihl combi system the year before Milwaukee came out with theirs, I wish I waited because I have a 900 dollar system collecting dust. Milwaukee hasn't changed their battery platform either so their 18 volts are interchangeable

Milwaukee Fuel M18. It's amazing what all kind of "tools" they have that will run off the same 18v battery.

I still use manual silky and see no reason to upgrade to power.

I have a Stihl Kombi tool with a pole saw, hedge trimmer, and weed whacker head. I also have an extension. That thing is a cutting machine, but a little heavy. Starts every time.

Same. But mine's a Fiskars it extends to 14 feet. Saw on one side pull string lopper on the other

You have a lot less chit to trim than those of s who see otherwise. I’m looking for a used slope mower from the state or county road crew!

I spent a good deal of the summer with a pole saw in my hand.

My Stihl was $700-800 about 10-12yrs ago. It’s big and heavy and all beat to hell but it’s been a reliable beast of a powertool.
