Anyone really know the difference between a 6mm TCU and a 6x45 ? From what I have read, it is splitting hairs. Very little difference....

My preliminary understanding is that loadings for TCU are going to be more handgun centric. Faster powders from a contender.
6x45 will be for the AR guys, getting more velocity, likely using different powders, but with similar pressures.

The TCU has a sharper shoulder. TCU cases must be fire formed. The 6x45 is as simple as necking up a .223 case and loading it. I don't have a 6mm TCU, but I do have a 7mm TCU and it is in need of fire forming too.

Could have fooled me. I’ve been shooting a 7TCU in a 700 I barreled up for nearly a decade. I’ve always just ran 223 through the sizer and rocked on. It’s always shot little groups with never an issue of any sort.

7 tcu should make an awesome suppressed cartridge. shooting like 175s or maybe a little bit heavier and a 7 twist.

Ive done a 7Grendle with really good subsonic capabilities and the Upper velocities are amazing with Speer tnt.

Then you don't have a 7 TCU, you have a 7 X 45. Have you looked at the fired cases and compared them to the loads you ran through the sizer. The TCU line of cartridges are fire formed with a much sharper shoulder

Yes the shoulder is sharper, but the shoulder on a 7TCU is so small the angle is nearly indistinguishable. And yes I’m sure I used a TCU reamer to cut the chamber and I’m using TCU dies. Are you and the above poster saying the cases need to be fireformed using Cream of Wheat or by jamming the bullet in the lands?

Same could be said for about half of the cartridges out there.
