The Marlin website is showing another variation of the 1895, their Guide Gun with 19.1" barrel and brown laminate stock. 1895 Guide GunAnd you can still get it in whatever caliber you want, as long as you want a .45-70.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

That would be a great companion to my stainless trapper!

Yes, a nice piece of wood with the blued metal would be a very nice addition.

I'm glad I've had the ones I've had, and not had to pay a grand plus for em.
Do the new ones have flaws NIB like the Remlins did, or did the Ruger people dispense with sabotaging their own product like the previous manufacturer did ?

I bought a SBL I waited 4 months for this year. Over the last 40 years, I've owned probably 20-30 Marlins from the early 1900's through 2022, the SBL is probably one of the top 3 in fit/finish and function. My Dad worked there in the 50's and 60's so I was brought up around them. Waiting for Ruger to expand the lineup. Would love to see wood stocks again but guessing the laminates are cheaper to produce

They may be more expensive than the previous Marlin walnut pieces looking at Boyd's for example.
Denser and seem less susceptible to knicks and dings, too.
When I bought my SBL a couple of years ago there was a mint JM version Guide in the rack that I didn't buy. When I got home I decided to go back...it was gone.

Only rifle I've ever regretted NOT buying!

I had a remlin GBL.
It shot real well.
Should have kept it.

We have a Remlin guide gun that my son loves.
I just picked a new Trapper, and it is a solid well manufactured rifle. Been trying to get out and run some rounds through it. Maybe this weekend.

I have a 338 ME Remlin that was sent back to the factory as it was one of the droop barrel rifles a non-ethical dude sold me. I found out it was still under warranty and sent it back in where a new receiver was installed. It is one of my most accurate rifles. I've been watching out for a ruger built model but haven't seen one in person yet. Still sold out before they hit the shelf.

Other than barrel length…..that’s a twin of my Remlin! Wanted a GG for many years, finally got the opportunity to buy a used but unfired similar to that pictured. I’m running cast 430’s through it at near 1900 fps with very good accuracy. My only complaint is I wish it were stainless……other than that, there’s not much more I could ask of a rifle! Love it! memtb
