6-digit, not drilled and tapped, .300 Sav.
Are they collectible? Any good reason not to D&T it?
They were made between 1952-1960 I believe.

I believe that drill and tapping won’t harm the value
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Condition matters and if it is the deluxe 5-Diamonds checkered style maybe collectable.
If it is the standard grade without checkering and the corn cob style forearm probably not collectable.
If you want to hunt with it and want to use a scope that is a good enough reason to have it d&t.
I have one back in the late 1980s and worked up a load with the Remington 170 grain RNCL 30-30 bullet that worked well on New England whitetails.

I have a plain jane 760 in 257 Roberts, assembled in 06/54, SN 2141xx. A truffle find for me that nobody on this site wanted, so I let it sit for a week and when nobody bought it, I went back and bought it.

Mike Sheesh! That's a cool one. No idea on if it collectible or not, but that's a peach! You sure you don't want a 760 270 Win with a dandy 20" barrel for trade? Even has Skinners on it

I appreciate it but I will keep it.. Don't drill it. I drilled and tapped an early 760 in 300 Savage when I was young and dumb. It's always bothered me that I did that

I believe it has some collector value. Unless it’s absolutely mint I don’t think D&T would hurt it much. OTOH, if you want one scooped, there are enough around to pick one up that is D&T.
Camp is where you make it.

Nice gun. Collectable? Not so much unless its pristine condition. And even then its only a few hundred dollars more than a shooter grade

I believe the collectibility on the 760/7600 may be more influenced by the region. Here in Pa they have quite a following.

I have it's cousin that was drilled and tapped so will leave this one alone.
Maybe I'm a collector and didn't know it.
I mean everybody needs 2 .300 Savage Pump rifles don't they?

Want a scope, buy a 7600 with a higher comb.
Those 760s are too easy to aim with since they have a low comb for use with open sights.
