Needing to replace my radar detector.
Haven’t kept up so I don’t know what the top-rated/tested model is these days.

The tech on radar detectors is typically a step behind what's out there.
What does seem to work is to plug in your destination (even though you know exactly where you're going and how to get there) into maps. You will get almost up to the minute alerts of "speed trap ahead"

I've used an Escort Passport 9500ix (red) for the past several years and it works very well. Saved me on numerous occasions.

I would recommend using the waze app instead.
other waze users report police in the area. it tells you ahead of time when police are around.
I haven't used google maps so it may do the same thing but I'm certain waze has saved me from more than one ticket

Thanks so far for the recommendations.
Realize where I drive, there oftentimes not much traffic, so relying on waze or google maps isn't very reliable.

I've got an Escort Max360 in one car and a Uniden R3 Extreme in another. I can't tell the difference between the two other than price. But I always have Waze running through my Android Radio.
If there's not a lot of Waze users ahead of you, it's not as useful.

Valentine One. With a power cord hard-wired to each vehicle. The company has upgraded mine over the years and I plan on getting their newest version soon.

Or, just stay at the speed limit and save yerself a few bux... BUT - there are times/places where that's not a great idea either.. For example - the few times I hafta be on the damned freeway (I-94 from the St. Croix River and west) where the traffic is always going at least 20 over, one can just blend in with the other Nascar boys and girls and yer golden..

I'm probably telling you something you already know but just in case..... that is a possibility, but still, I'd have it as a backup. I'm constantly surprised at how many people report stuff on waze - its not just cops, its cars on the side of the road, road kill, potholes, construction, etc also, keeping Waze on with your route will re-direct you there is a traffic tie up - I'm at a point where I trust Waze directions even when it doesn't make sense to me. I've ignored it a few times and been burned. One day some hacker will figure out how to mess with that and cause mass gridlock I'm sure. FWIW, I have a passport 8500 X50. From what I've read its still a pretty good detector, if price is an issue, you can pick them up used for about $60
