What brands do some of you buy? What stands and fasteners do you prefer?

I have a few steel plates. Mostly round but part of them rectangle.
They are fun to shoot but I rarely shoot at them.
The round ones I bought from Make It Ring targets.

For most handguns there is no need for hardened steel targets. I have a bunch that are just 3/8” mild steel. They’ve stopped thousands of rounds of 38,9mm,45, and 44 and all they need to look new is a little spray paint.
Any welding shop or metal supplier will have some 3/8” plate lying around. If a shop has a plasma table they probably throw away or recycle drops that make good targets. Many of mine are the circles left over from cutting flanges out of sheet on a plasma, others are squares from the same thing.

Mild steel is easily drilled to bolt chains or rubber straps onto for hanging unlike AR plate. One of my squares I welded a leg onto the back so it free stands and I can move it wherever in the pasture I want it.

I caught sales from shootsteel.com and mcm targets.

We have mild steel at 1000 yards and it stops most rifle calibers but everything else is AR500.

The one thing I will add is thick heavy plate is a lot harder to pick up hits with smaller calibers like a 22. For a lot of 22 shooting, the 1/4” plates ring and move a lot better.

My pistol range stands are made from 2x4’s. One makes the base and another gets a hook stuck in it on the edge. I also screw a mild steel plate down the edge to keep folks from splintering my post, it happens… though angle iron works best to deflect low hits.

There’s a little blue spec way out there on the pipeline, that’s where we shoot from.

All good info folks, I was just curious in general as I generally don’t shoot with anyone. That JC steel had a few ideas I liked.
