I’ve had one in mind for a good while, little bit of an impulse buy. I already did paperwork on another gun, ended up ‘two guns for one money’, as background checks go.

The details, it’s a 1950’s gun, 300 Savage chambering, ‘round counter’ on the side. It has the two holes in the rear tang area, peep sight mounting I think, no sight included. It’s in nice shape, all screw heads as new, none buggered up. The wood seems very well for its age.

The price was $750, don’t know it that’s great, seems ballpark anyway. I’m a reloader, brass & dies on the way, I have the rest I think. I’ll give a closer inspection then put up the SN if that can confirm the date.

I’d rather it was in 284, but this should do.

Price sounds ball park. Pics will help.

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

If you look on the front of the lever, there's an inspection code there that has a date component.

It will be an oval with 1 or 2 numbers followed by a letter. The letter is the year.
A = 1949
B = 1950
C = 1951
D = 1952
etc (skipping O and Q if you get that high)

Congrats! They are addictive, and like to breed in the safe. Next thing you know you'll open it and find 6. grin

Whatever is inside that oval on the front of the lever, it’s very hard to read. I even had the magnifying glass on it, I’ll keep trying.

The serial number is 69050x, the tag listed one year in the 1950’s, forget the year. 24” barrel it seems.

I have plenty of bullets from 125-180 grains to try, then a good assortment of powders. Of course I’ll start with casual loads, nothing top end.

The 130 Barnes work well in the 300 savage. They are addictive. I have a 99 in 284, awesome caliber, 358’s are great too.

Yeah, the stamp on the front didn't always take. 690,50x would almost surely be 1953.

Thin forearm with a schnabel tip would be a model 99EG, a fat and wide forearm with a rounded end would be a 1950's 99R.
