Recommendations for a quality, economical set of kitchen knives requested. Paring, butcher, chef etc... Can be stainless or not. Youngest daughter is asking for Christmas.

Thank you and have a blessed day

Victorinox are very good for the money. I have an assortment of sizes and shapes and have served me well.

WV Airedale;
Good afternoon, I hope the day down in your section of West Virginia is treating you and yours acceptably and you're all well.

When our girls went off on their own, we gifted them with some kitchen knives and then they requested specific others after a bit.

This Victorinox Santoku with the Graton scallops is the one everyone reaches for at our house. I'll note that there's "a whole bunch" to choose from, but this one gets the most use and we bought one for our youngest when she didn't like the Henkels Santoku she had been using.

The other daughter has a Mac Santoku about the same size and it's fine, but no better and costs more.

I'd follow that with a bread knife from the same folks at Victorinox.

Honestly then a couple of these paring knives and she's likely set.

And a serrated edge for fruit or tomatoes.

Lastly I'll mention that we've got blades made by Hook Eye, F Dyck, Swebo, Wenger, Mcusta, Old Hickory, Gerber, Kai, Chicago Cutlery and a couple others I'm forgetting - and the daughter with the Henkels too.

After using all those, I'd still recommend the Victorinox. grin

Hopefully that was useful to you or someone out there.

All the best to you all this Christmas Season.

Dwayne

Mundial makes some very good knives. They are equal quality with the Wusthof brand, but at a more affordable price point.

Victoronix for me too.

Although shipping can be bit, still 2/3 the price of amazon. 8 inch chef knife, bread knife, carving knife and a paring knife or two and that's all she'll need. When I was fishing quite a bit, I stocked up on fillet knives.

Starting over I would spend my money a great chefs knife. I love my 25 year old Henkel. I have a wustoff chef I keep in my camp box. I have my old set of Henkels which will probably out last me but I use my Victoronix boning knives more than anything if Im not chopping or dicing with a chefs knife.

Highly recommend the Vicktorinox steak knives too. For the money, they are excellent.
