It's been many months since I've had the opportunity to vist the campfire. I went back 3 months to see if any discussion was had, concerning "The Judge"!
I would like to know if anyone knows or knows where to find info on max. chamber pressures that can safely( key word - SAFELY) be used in this handgun when loading 45LC. I would like to load-up something hard cast in the neighborhood of 300+ grains.
The wife and I thought this might be a good grouse/rabbit/squirrel/snake gun in the .410, with a side order of bear in the 45LC!
Any help in that direction would be appreciated!!!

Hand-Loading manuals I've seen for .45 Colt, say: "Ruger Only!" regarding 'Hot-Loads'. "The Judge" does not seem to be "that" strong a Revolver.

I own one of the original (3" barrel...2.5" .410) Taurus "JUDGE" revolvers. It does appear to be a strong piece. My experience thus far suggests that it is NOT a good grouse/rabbit gun...it does shoot .45 Long Colt extremely well...and with .410 buckshot, it is probably a dynamite self-defense house gun. Iam seriously considering the purchase of one of the newer models with 6" barrel that can handle 3" .410 loads. That could be a good grouse/rabbit gun.

I would strongly suggest you not use hard cast bullets for bear defense, unless Brown bears or very large grizzly bears. They just zip through with the bear seeing marginal impact and virtually no reaction unless a CNS hit is made.
Stick with XTP hollow points in a mid range weight that will allow 1000fps impact velocity.......not MV.

If you buy some Speer SHot capsules and load with#9 shot or smaller in the 45. It will do better thanthe .410 load I think

I would not compromise on a true bear gun, get a 4 to 5 1/2" double action 44 mag or 45 colt, and load it up.
There are plenty of novelty guns that seem like they'd be good for so many tasks, trouble is the compromises make them excel at nothing.
