I have but it’s been a few years. Thinking I used a 3/16” endmill. You aren’t so much cutting a notch as making a flat

It's nice to have a bolt with the factory notch to use as a pattern. I did one of mine with my drill press and a cross/mill vise, using a long shank 1/4" (I think) end mill to clear the bolt handle. Mine doesn't end with the long curve because the bolt handle wouldn't allow it. But the short curve isn't really noticeable without a factory bolt to compare.

yes I was hoping someone would post a picture of 1 - This is going on a 700 muzzle loader - so a couple things - i don't need the bolt release lever - I assume i can take that off and the trigger still function? How do i remove that without tearing things up? I had the trigger almost in to look at the notch deal but the rear slave pin was too fat to fit in the action - I didn't want to take it out until i am driving in the pin to the action

I hand worked a small flat on the bolt & works well - wasn't much to it.
