I ordered a new 2022 Silverado last May. It never got built. Changed it to a 2023 in August. Four months later the dealer has no idea if/when it will be delivered.
This is a small to midsize dealer.
I’m wondering if larger dealers can get them or is the whole system screwed.
Has anyone ordered and received a new Silverado LTZ with 6.2 liter engine and had it delivered.
Not interested in debates if Chev/Dodge/Toyota/ford.

Thanks

I'm sorry I can't answer your question although I doubt dealer size has anything to do with it. I ordered a 2023 F350 about 2 months ago. They told me then that they wouldn't begin building Super Duty trucks until April and I'm thinking I would be lucky to get mine in June or July. It is a very unusual time for the manufacturers and consumers. From friends I have talked with who have ordered Fords they tell me they get an e-mail from the factory about every 45 days. I had my first e-mail earlier this week.
Good Luck, and I hope your truck arrives soon,
Rick

Tough for everyone around town Dale, all makes.
Did your dealer not do a regional search to find one for you?

Added. The longest lineup of new trucks I see and it’s been that way for years is the dealership in Aitkin. East side of town on 169 across from the McDonalds.
We’re I to look here in Minnesota for a GM truck they would be one of my first calls.

There should be a priority code on your order. This can be low or high depending on the options you selected, then you just are put in line for your code. Having bought a 22 F250 a year ago I was watching message boards to see what guys ordering were going through. The big hang ups on F250/350 were factory goose neck/5th wheel prep and factory spray in bed liners. They were being told by the dealers it probably wouldn't happen. When they amended their orders to delete the hitches and bed liners, they started getting build dates for their trucks. If you can't find a date on your order ask your dealer to find your priority code.
All brands are still suffering with supply issues.
I don't think a larger dealer will do any better for you.
Good luck.

Might want to go online and see if any other dealer has one in stock even in another state, unless you want a specific build.

My BIL works as a service manager for a local Chevy dealership.

He flat out told me you can order a 2023 WITHOUT the DFM. I asked if that meant it had the stupid lifters in it, and that the DFM would just be turned off. He explicitly said it WOULD NOT have the lifters and there would be NO DFM. So I don't know how that will affect the gov mileage mandates for Chevy.

Color me skeptical, but he is ordering one in January. I will ask him if he can give me the specific code to order such.

If that is the case, I would order one without hesitation. Don't want that stupid DFM, but I have it in my 2021 Sierra. (I did put in the Pulsar LT which turns it off. The mechanicals are obviously still there though)

I ordered a 23 Silverado RST in early August. It was built in mid November & I'm waiting on delivery. I just looked at my dealers website, they have 45- 23 Silverado's on the lot & 31 in transit. Only 1 LTZ in the bunch. There may be a restriction on them, your dealer should be able to find out.

I think the size of the dealer will play a part. They need an allocation to order a particular vehicle. I've been told it's a formula of how many are on their lot, how many they sell in an average month. If the dealer has 2 allocations for LTZ's & there are 6 orders ahead of yours, Its going to be a while. Although that's irrelevant if there is a restriction on them & they're not being built.

After it's built, shipping is the next issue. Mine was built 5 weeks ago in Ft. Wayne & only has to go 185 miles to my dealer & they can't get any update on when it may be delivered. Good luck.

Possibly the 6.2 liter motor is on constraint.

I’m glad I bought a new truck in 2018. I’ve done good in miles, about 29,000 in four years. Got it Feb 2019

I ordered a diesel suburban the first of the year. I got a notification a few months ago that they were changing it to a 2023. The manager at the dealership told me he gets an allocation each month but it can be for specific power trains and options.

He said someone could have ordered a gas 5.3 well after my order and still get there's first. He said it can be pretty specific like last month he could get 5.3 gassers with the rst package but only if it didn't have the power sliding middle seats.

About the same thing here - ordered the truck in Dec. of '19 and took delivery in March of '20.. Thank God, or else I doubt I'd see it even yet..

The 6.2 seems to be the scarce part. A huge Chevy truck dealer near me has 119 1/2 tons on the lot & only 3 of them have the 6.2.

Otherwise, trucks aren't as scarce as some dealers want buyers to believe.

My dad ordered a 2500 High Country with the 6.2 in July and took delivery in late Oct. The dealership actually drove about 40mi to a GM holding lot because trucking from that lot to dealerships was so far behind.

At that time, he was told that what he ordered was rolling off the line fairly consistently, part availability being what it was then.

Last 4 vehicles I've bought have been out of state.

I'd get on the interwebs, use a filter and find the 40 trucks or so that are specked out to your desire within 500 miles of you.

It may be what the specs are. We have a fleet of trucks and lost one due to an accident. We usually get the lower optioned trucks since ours are all work vehicles. We have fleet accounts with the big 3 and have been looking for four months now. We ended up with a Chevy 2500 LTZ Duramax that cost 2x what the 2018 I have assigned to me did. It’s literally all we could find. Word is the manufacturers are making top of the line vehicles because why sell a cheaper truck when you can sell a well optioned version for a lot more money? My boss about [bleep] when he saw the cost but it’s a seller’s market right now and we are out of time. $68k later and we have the truck.

More than likely. The dealer in Rogers had a bunch of silverados on the lot with the turbo 2.7s.

My dealer said there’s lots of incentives on the 2.7 liter turbo, and that’s cause there’s little demand for them.
