Christmas Greetings All,

Winter is finally upon us here in Kansas, so time to renew research on the early .380 Savage pistols.

I am expanding my ongoing research into the early Model 1907 .380 pistols in an attempt to narrow when and why the transition occurred from hand-stamped to machine-rolled Bs.

For you collectors with Savage Model 1907 .380 pistols under serial #3000, it would be greatly appreciated if you would privately share your serial number information. Please indicate if the serial number has no "B", a B-prefix or a B-suffix. If it does contain a B, does it physically appear hand stamped and different from the numbers, or similar to the numbers and machine applied (same style, in a line). A close-up photo of the serial number would be spectacular, but not necessary.

For your assistance, I give my thanks & appreciation. I'd also provide back to you factory ledger information from the Cody Firearms Museum if you do not already have that information. Eventually, I hope to publish any definitive results in some format, but will first share with contributors.

PM me or my regular email is savage1907aol.com.

Thank you and best wishes for the holidays !
Dave Koch

Okay, hooked - now you can reel me in. smile A M1915 .380 with that serial. Hmmm. Any other markings anywhere inside or out? Inspector marks? Mind sharing a photo of that serial number? And a profile shot of the end of the frame? Looking to see it it was ground down from original length without measuring it.

Triple Deuce, always looking to add data, if you'd like PM or email me a photo with full serial number and I'll get the Cody ledger information. Since production was in full swing at the time, it will only be about a month difference. I can still use yours as a comparison outside the range I am specifically targeting. Appreciate anything you can share.
