Hi Guys Well I shot my second deer with a ML in my life this season. It didn't come easy thou! I have been sitting in below freezing weather for 10 hours a day. On the 3rd evening he came down the trail and I missed him because I had a missfire with my TC. The primer went off but it didn't ingnite the powder, but it was loud enough that it spooked him. But two night later I was ready and took him thru the shoulder with a 240 gr deadcenter, it dropped him in his tracks!

Goatboy,
Now that is a wonderful 10 point, a large bodied deer as well.
"Skane" may have traveled to far...he should have been hunting with you.
When it is really cold just drop a few granuals of 777 powder inside the primer hole and then insert the primer. It may be a "crush fit" when you close the action but the rifle will go off.
Did you get the "Slick 50" grease????
Doc

Yes I got the grease, been meaning to thank you!! Man I've got enough there to last me a life time!
I was using three pellets, don't know what the heck happened. Next time I'll use the regular 209 instead of the 777 maybe. When I got back to camp I put another primer in it and it had about a 1/2 sec delayed reaction but it did go off that time. Shot was 60 yds broadside. Thanks!

Here's some hints to avoid mis/hangfires
Keep the clean, dry breechplug out of the ML until it's time to go outdoors. That will keep gun oils from the barrel from draining down into the plug when storing the ML muzzle-up.
Make sure all gun oil is removed before loading. Use rubbing alcohol - then both sides of two dry patches. Always buy the larger 3" patches. Then load the stored, clean, dry breechplug afterwards. Then take that 2nd patch you used earlier & take it all the way down the barrel - then turn the ramrod & patch clockwise a few revolutions. That will clear any excess breechplug grease that may have partially plugged the plug ignition hole.
Use a stronger primer with pellets. Regular Winchesters, CCI-M (magnums), Federals are good ones. The Feds are the hottest of them all. Fire three primers before loading.
Sit in your stand for long periods with the ML firing door closed on your inline. That helps keep moisture from seeping in the plug ignition hole.
Congrats on a fine deer. Those 40 caliber Precision poly-tips sure do the job - despite their narrow size.

I have seen a noticable delay when using pyro in cold weather.try putting a few grains of genuine blackpowder in before your pellets.Or just switch to blackpowder like I did.Much better ignition in cold weather.

It's crazy how big those Canadian whitetails get. Huge. That's a very nice buck. Congrats. I like the muzzleloader, too.

Awesome!! That is one beautiful buck....
Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21. Drum roll please...... "I don't know, to be clear." and THAT is one promise he's kept!!!

goatboy,
Nice deer . . . nice to see somebody else wears Predator Grey camo, too . . .
