I believe Warne makes a steel Weaver style base for the Mod 70 - check their website

The Warnes are excellent.

The Leupold MK 4's seem to sit more in plane with each other than the Warnes on some of my Model 70's. Might be the opposite on someone else's rifle. But mechanically they're all good. The Warnes are a hair lower maybe.

The Weaver chart is a bit muddy on them, that's for sure. The ones I used were S46 (48227) and S47 (48228). The hole spacing is .860...double check your hole spacing for sure. Hope this helps. -Al

I have a set of Warne Maxima series bases, product number M902/924M bases that are now orphans that were on a 1975 vintage M70 (they also fit a pre-64 M70 .30-06). I also have a set Burris 30mm medium matte Signature Zee rings that have both the level and 10 moa posi-align inserts. They are in perfect shape as they were mounted on a safe queen that I sold. The rings and bases provided clearance from the barrel easily for a 44 mm objective scope. PM me if you are interested in buying the bases, rings or both.
