I am still maintaining a list of known 25-35, 32-40 and 38-55 in Savage 1899s. I only add those with known serial number (eg 44444 (best), 444XX or 4444X) ) as they are flipped quite often. Almost half of the numbers I am given I already have record of as many have been through an auction site. Simply stating a model/caliber would skew the reliability of records. Private messages are confidential and I am based in Canada.

Bill, I'm sure you have my rifles in your data: SRC 32-40, SRC 38-55 and 1899H solid frame 25-35 with high grade wood and checkering. If you don't I'll PM the serial #'s.

I am still tracking the caliber/model/serial numbers of the three scarcer Winchester calibers. As my numbers increase I am finding I can not often add those with XXX or XX or even X as part of the given number. Eg. If I have 83764 already in my records 8376X, 837XX and 83XXX can not be added as they are possibly the same firearm. I will update my records this week as we will have lots of indoor time due to a major snowstorm expected over the next couple of days. As the Cody museum is computerizing Savage 1899 records maybe we will eventually have an accurate count of these Savage gems. My records can't estimate production numbers but have generated relative rarity of the various variations in each caliber. Looking at Winchester 1894 known production numbers in these calibers give a hint as to how many Savages were produced in a caliber eg/ 38-55 are quite common in 1894s but 38-55 is found less frequently in 1899s. Gotta love a mystery.

I'm not sure if I gave you these way back when, but here are a few I have owned or still have.
25-35 5411X 1899 B, 26 inch barrel (I sold this to a member here, so I'm deleting the last digit) 32-40 8204X 1899 A, Takedown, 20 inch barrel (I sold this to a member here, so I'm deleting the last digit) 38-55 103617 1899 A , Takedown, 26 inch barrel

One must survey a large enough sample to extrapolate those numbers. Do any of the members currently conducting surveys have any idea of what number of rifles would be necessary to get an estimate of the Winchester calibers?

I saw in the first post a serial for 32 Winchester special? I didn't realize any 99s we're chambered for that round.
I have a 25-35 I'll post later. I also have a lot of 30-30s I can post it you're interested in those. I have somehow ended up with more 30-30s than any other chambering.
