I too have had nice success with Barnes 120gr TTSX bullets, mild recoil and work great. My experience is on WT deer in WI with it. Great Christmas gift, enjoy!

I have shot 140 ballistic tips over 44 grains of Reloader 15 and small rifle primer for 15 years. Three years ago, I had 7-08s built for my two kids (now 10 and 13). Their rifles are suppressed and my kids shoot the same load. 140s are hard to find these days.
The ballistic tips are plenty sturdy. I have killed a lot of white tails and aoudad with it. I killed a desert bighorn with it last week. If I can figure out how to post photos, I will.
7-08 and Reloader 15 or Varget are pretty forgiving.

Well done Pharm. My son's "dumbed down" 120 BT load was RL15 at 2750fps.

Yes, the Palma Lapua brass. I’m on a few wait lists for Peterson and Alpha brass, as well as Lapua. I tried a lighter load with 120 grain ballistic tips initially, but they had a slight delay in ignition. I think the small primers weren’t enough to kick them off.

140 Accubond in front of Big Game for me. Does anything I’d ever want to do with a 7mm08.

120 TSX's and 162 A-Max's have been my go-to bullets for a long time. Both work extremely well.

I could be completely happy with a 140 grain ballistic Tip and 42 grains BL-C2 for all my hunting, shooting needs.

Just a thought-maybe some lighter hammers would be interesting.Good performance and could help with recoil.

140gn Nosler Accubonds and 47gns of RL17 is all I use. If I needed to use another powder - H4350 or W760 would be my preference.

I load 47.3 CFE 223 under 120 BTs for my stepson. That load shotts extremely well and kills just fine. Kimber Hunter.

When my oldest son was starting out I bought him a 7mm-08 and laid in shcitt load of 120 gr sierra’s and varget as they were cheap. Started out with low book loads and over several trips to the range I keep adding a little powder as his comfort improved. By the time hunting season rolled around he was shooting full house 139 loads and didn’t even notice a difference.

Right on Mallard. I did much the same with my son and nephew and 120 BT's.

Thanks to several members, 120 BTs is where we will start. Should be perfect for practice, deer and javelina. If/when it is elk time, I will load up 120 TTSX or 140 Accubonds.
Unfortunately, sportsmans is slower than projected and the rifle won't be here in time for Christmas.

Bet those 120 Ballistic Tips work better than you think from what many have posted on here over the years.
Some from even more potent cartridges.

Both myself and my grandson have 7-08s. My Browning Micro Hunter shoots 139 gr Hornady Interlocks the best but his Savage 16 just lover 154 grainers. I wish my Browning would shoot as good as his Savage. That little rifle can put 5 shots into a 3/8" ragged hole at 100 yards. My Browning is straining to get <1" at 100.
