Wife and kids got me a wonderful Christmas present (Swarovski 10x42 EL Range). This one has blue tooth capability. I definitely wanted the range finding capability, but I generally stay away from bells and whistles when possible. I’m wondering if this Bluetooth feature is something I will like or if I should return these for one with rangefinder only. What are your opinions on these added features?? Useful? Or just added fluff that increases chance of something not working?

Super nice gift! Sounds like an opportunity to use them hard and give us a review!
Merry Christmas!

The ability to download ballistic data and drop info (albeit only from Swarovski's ballistic calculator) for 3 different rifles/loads is a nice feature. The tracking assist is also pretty neat, but unless you use it regularly, may need a YouTube refresher every time you set out to use it
Of note, the new EL Range TA has Swarovision glass, whereascthe now discontinued model did not
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

TA could be very handy. Obviously if you've downed or wounded an animal and have to take a route that will cause you to lose sight of said critter, you could bounce a pin to the last known position. Additionally, you could pin an animal or landmark feature you're trying to stalk as things can look different fast as you change position.
I don't have TA, and if I did, I doubt I'd dump load data in. The thing I like best about the EL Range (I've been using a Gen 2 since fall '19) is the ability for the readout to spit out 2 distances in one reading. Actual and angle comp range @ the same time. Then I can look @ my chart, dial the short readout and hold wind for the long one.

Merry Christmas! I agree^^^^
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
