Has anyone used Varget in their .350 Rem Mag with 180 gr. or 200 gr. bullets? I don't see it pop up in data, but it's right there in the burn rate chart with stuff like TAC. I have a couple pounds of Varget on the shelf that I only use for a cast bullet load in my .30-40 Krag and wondered if it would be useful in the .350 RM. Steve doesn't even list it in his reloading pages, which often have a wide variety of powders for use with a given cartridge. Selmer

I bet it would work fine. Very similar to Win 748 which is used often in the 350 rem mag. Right in the middle of burn rates of other popular 350 powders . I am using Tac right now in some 350 loads. Seems to work well.

I'd use a faster powder for 180 and 200 gr bullets - something like 3031, Benchmark, 8208 XBR, TAC or 4895.

Currently have a good load with 8208 XBR and picked up a pound of TAC a couple weeks ago. Hard to find the 8208 XBR around here. Also found a good load with H380, which I thought would be too slow, but worked well.

I've loaded with IMR 4320 and TAC, both with good results with 200, 225 and 250 grn.
Haven't tried Varget, other than .223 precision loads with 69s and 77s. I'm curious as to how it will work in the 350 as I'm sitting on 9lbs of it.

Varget works well in the 35 Whelen with 250’s. My brain says 56 grains. I’ll look it up next time the computer is on. 350 rm is essentially the same case capacity with a higher pressure rating. So; should work fine but as said before, maybe not with light bullets.

Willy, a year developing 35 Whelen loads suggested faster powders excel with lighter bullets. >>>> Not aware of pistol or carbine suggested loads for the 350 0r Whelen... Re7 and 2015 were outstanding in a 22' 700 350 and 35W. Extensive trials with RE15 vs Varget was in 11 0f 12 loads Varget wins. The exception was with RE15 and 225 Sierra BTs they were crowding 1/2 minute in the M700 1-16 twist 35Whelen. >>>> My 350 was a "Fireplug" a wildcat 350 throated to work in a standard action. (Only a factor with 275 and 300 grain bullets the F-Plug.)

I use H4895 in my 350 with 180 TTSXs. Works great. Varget should work the same.

Tac is readily available and the fastest powder I have tried with 200 gr bullets. Barnes has data. 200 gr barnes Tsx 2700-2800 fps is easy from an 18.5” 600.

Still burning through a stockpile of factory Remington rounds I have. I'm ready to start reloading in hopes I can tighten it up a little. What do most use as a good starting point for a hunting load for whitetail.

I started with bullets I had in stock for the .357 Remington Maximum - 180 gr FNSP. My 16” barreled pistol runs them out at 2400 fps. I shot my big doe at 189 yards broadside and got good expansion on the way out, but not any crazy destruction. Took out both lungs and didn’t mess up meat. I’ll do load work up for 200 gr Hornady Interlocks for next year, but don’t anticipate needing anything heavier than that.

H4895 and IMR4320 were the top two powders for accuracy in my 600. I had that Rifle for close to 50 years and I tested it every summer testing for accuracy. Varget is in the same burn range, and I'd bet it could do very well too.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally
