From a tourist perspective, as a winter destination, there's not a lot. There are the casinos. There's often good entertainment (concerts, shows, etc.) associated with them. Downtown Bay St Louis and Ocean Springs are kinda cool. Biloxi has a neat little seafood museum. Beauvoir/Jefferson Davis house is worth a stop. Someone mentioned The Shed. It's BBQ joint with a super cool vibe and really marginal food. The Gulfport Aquarium is cool. Walking across the Biloxi-Ocean Springs bridge when the weather is nice is fun. If you can find some kayaks to rent, it's a short paddle to Deer Island, and you'll have it to yourself. If the Biloxi Schooner is running, you might enjoy that. Gulf Islands National Seashore is worth a drive through. There are a few short hiking trails there. If you golf, there are some outstanding courses.
I lived in Biloxi for many years, Biloxi stands 6th in the worlds largest ball of twine associations. Here's a vid of The King of twine balls, Greg you seem like the kind who will enjoy it, all the best, happy trails.
I am much more enthused about it than my wife is. Thanks for the tip!
I’ve lived in Biloxi (2X’s) and Ocean Springs once. Outside of Casinos and buffets, there’s not too much, but I still like it there. But for beaches continue east to the FL panhandle.
Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis are the nicer towns in the area, they both have nice downtown areas with B&B's, restaurants & music. If it was warm weather I'd say do a fishing charter or take the ferry to Ship Island. Mary Mahoney's is a really nice restaurant but a bit $$. BSL, Ocean Springs, and Biloxi have numerous good restaurants and the casinos always have something going on. New Orleans is an easy day trip. It's kind of sleepy in the winter, but it's a nice area, don't expect nice beaches and water like Florida and Alabama though. The beaches in MS are man-made, the real southern coastline of MS is the south side of the barrier islands, Cat Island, Ship Island, Petit Bois, and Horn Island. The beaches and water on the south side of those islands is really nice but you've got to have a boat to get to them.

I used to call on the Seabees Base at Gulfport and Keesler Air Force Base there. That was back before casinos and such. I ate some dang good oysters there.

I had the pleasure of doing the home inspections for two of the most beautiful women I have ever met in Biloxi, MS. post Katrina. Also did the inspection of the moronic mayor of Gulfport and his wife, two huge fraudsters!
