"Good"? I hail from Wisconsin . It is good in some places. All of S.W. Wisconsin is good. S.E. Wis. mostly sucks. There are too many people and where you can hunt, it is very crowded when it come to public land . Where I live, about 20 mi. south of Fond Du Lac, it is good rolling hills and corn . Not too many houses but many did pop up the last few years . N.E. Wisconsin is sand country and lots of nice smaller rivers . N.W. WIsconsin is nice sometimes . I have land in Price co. , in NW WIs. and it is considered misquito brreding bear country . Winters are tough and long and very few deer where I have land. So few in fact that the wolves even moved out. We have a lot of nice lakes for summer fishing and lots of public land though. Much of it is not that good though, some of it is very good, like the Bay of Green Bay . Now I have to go to work . it is 53 miles one way through the Milwaukee interchanges. That is the parts that really suck. I hate it down there.
But the fruits of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. Galations 5: 22&23

Super troll dropping some open ended thread starter again? Then bail, sits back, and enjoys the schit show it might evolve into....
Typical old fugg manipulation schit we all have seen played out with our own twilight years relatives... Ad nauseum since the dawn of time. Ya gotta humor them based on what they were in the past and feign interest to give them a sense of relevance in the current.

Grew up in SW Wisconsin. It is now called the "driftless" area. Went home a few years ago and there were shops everywhere with "driftless" on t-shirts, mugs etc. Never heard any of that growing up.

I live in WI. Overall enjoy it. Decent place to be a sportsman. 20 years back was looking for a change and had some job offers in CO; did some soul searching, glad I stuck around.
I love to fish, have been to quite a few different states to do it, and I think it is fantastic in WI. Smaller lakes for panfish up north, walleyes on Winnebago and GB, Great Lakes salmon and trout, stream trout, sturgeon spearing, etc, there really is something for everyone.
As far as big game hunting, it could be better. I've loved hunting big blocks of public ground in the northern part of the state for most of my life, but as I hookem stated, it's gotten pretty bad in our neck of the woods, which is just to the east of his on the border of Oneida/Price county. Good hunting in the southern portion of the state for deer with some really big bucks, but it's generally on small blocks of private ground, on which access can be tough. Grouse hunting can be good to decent, but it seems it gets hit a little harder every year; lots of out of staters in our area. Additionally, a lot of timber company land is getting sold off, so a few less places to spread them out every year. I head west for big game hunting, but that is getting more and more crowded and or more difficult to draw all the time as well.

Born in the Northwoods. The northern 1/3 of WI and the UP of MI need to secede and form their own state.

We lived in Madison, Wisconsin when I was in school, loved it there. My grandfather's first cousin, a man I'd never met, showed up on our apartment doorstep on a Sunday afternoon about a month after we arrived. Spitting image of the old man, we created a great relationship, hunted and fished all over the place. Wisconsin, South Dakota, Canada even. Wonderful memories.
We took the girls back a few times when they were in their teens to see this magical place and get a feel for it. First visit for them was a weekend in the summer. Saturday midday, we parked near campus on our way to the Terrace. Came round a corner and here's a dreadlocked freak who hadn't showered in a month on a segway leading a bull mastiff in a spiked collar along side. His T shirt read "I don't have sex with humans because corporations F(&C me over everyday."
I laughed my ass off at him and went and downed a pitcher of Spotted Cow all by myself sitting in the sun and listening to live music. I still laugh at him.
"Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passin.'"
