Can someone explain the barrel prices on the 'bay ? They are bringing more than TC's ! There are aftermarket barrels for TC's, if the demand is there for Handi's, seems someone could carve out a profitable lil cottage industry cranking out Handi barrels. Wouldn't be a major tooling change for Savage, they're building a Lawyered up shotgun Handi already

Just stop buying them and buy a Henry or CVA instead.
Ebay prices are beyond my understanding.
Maybe time to sell instead of buy.

supply, and demand.
They've been going up in price steadily. people that have handi-rifle frames want barrels, but...often times its cheaper just to buy a full gun than just the barrel...

Used to be that people didn't want them and would ridicule others that would use them. I've never had any problems out of the ones I've used other than a remlin I bought that made it past their poor QC
Probably like everything else, yuppie fads drive prices way up and way down like that I had one some years ago that was $60 from a pawn shop. I killed several deer with it, and my friends oldest son killed his first with it

I think those are made You Know Where.
Just received a copy of the 1967 Sports Afield Gun Annual, a sort of mini Gun Digest.
Toppers are $36.95. Extra shotgun barrels are $12, rifle $16.75.
What fresh Hell is this?

Put a watch on the rifle barrels, very few of them sell for "pie in sky" prices they are asking for them. The shotgun barrels (below $200) sell pretty good.

I had Remington fit a 12, 20, and 357 barrel to my action. (It started out as a 410 bore).
Those barrels costed more than I paid for the whole shotgun too. Granted I bought it used.
Looking back, I should've bought a 44 mag barrel while I was at it but foolishly didn't.

Would love to see Ruger add some of the Marlin and H&R models to their line up.
IIRC, a H&R barrel has to be "fitted" to the receiver. Unlike the T/C Contender, you can't just buy and install different barrels. 🤔

Maybe on the barrel fit. I've had 3 receivers and a half-dozen barrels and they all interchange with no fitting.
But others might not.

I had one, out of about 10, that required a thin shim on the hinge to lock up tight. Not hard at all.
