I have reluctantly come to the realization that I can no longer shoot iron sighted handguns without doing something more than wearing my eyeglasses. I've seen the Merit Aperture peep sight advertised and wondered if any of you have actually used one and if it works to sharpen the sight picture enough to be worth the $65 it costs.
Thanks for your input.

Many years ago, when I still had good eyesight, I used a small piece of electrical tape with a small hole cut in it on my glasses….it did help sharpen the sight picture, improving my groups with my handgun. I think that the concept is sound, not certain if it is practical……at least in a hunting scenario! memtb

I am nearsighted but, until I got into my mid to late 60"s, never had trouble reading or focusing close. Now I do. I've found, however, that when I remove my glasses or don't use a contact lens in my right eye, I can focus perfectly well on my handgun iron sights. For me, anyway, whatever I'm shooting at, be it paper, steel or game I can see well enough at handgun ranges.

Rem Forgot all about this item. I used one for years when shooting handgun silhouette competition back in the 70's. Yes, they work great. It also helps to cover your other eye with a "patch" that attaches to your glasses that can flip up or down.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I've been using one for 30+ years and won't target shoot for accuracy without it.
One caveat - if you have no-line bifocals, or progressive-type lenses, it can be tricky finding the best spot on your glasses to look through.

I've done the pinhole in electrical tape trick, and it works. You can try that for free, but the Merit device makes it easier to get the right positioning.
Lunatic fringe....we all know you're out there.

Thanks to all of you for the information. I guess it's time to order one.
