.....will be a scary ride. There will be buying opportunities but for the most part it will be extremely volatile. With savings rates getting into the 4%+ range, that may be where I park my money until things shake out a bit.

5.5% on a one year CD. Thinking of taking a loan from my 401K to build a medically required ADA compliant home, (pay myself back) and pay the tax on the rest and put in a CD.
Need to start looking at that...

I was in the futures industry for 40 years. The highlight of that span was the day they delisted them.

If you have cash just sitting in a brokerage account you can get 1 month CD's at 4.2-4.35 % and 3 month Treasuries at 4.25. Longer times pay a little bit more but if interest rates keep rising then its better to keep rolling short term instruments.

My stocks dropped 45% in 2022.
Good thing I got back 1% in 2023.

Marc Cohodes was praising Enovix, which caught my attention. He's a famous short seller, so I started following it. Today, it dropped 40%, lol. Today's long-term investor is anyone holding their position overnight. Slight exaggeration, but some of the swings give that impression.

If you work 40 hrs/wk: at 5% inflation and after 5 years, you need a 28% pay raise or to work 44 more hours (*one full extra week* per month+) to make up the difference.
This is inflation

Best I have found 6 month @ 4.1 on jumbo.
