I recently did a build with one. It is a beautiful action I want to love but like most beautiful things comes with some headaches. It had been a .35 Whelen and fed perfectly and was very accurate. With a barrel swap to .400 Whelen there have been feeding issues which is something that is not uncommon with the .400s…but seems particularly bad in this rifle. Still feeds any other ‘06 family cartridge well but my ‘smith had a heckuva time getting it to finally feed one load pretty well…luckily it is a bullet that I plan to use frequently.

I have an X2 in 338 Federal. Lived in the safe for a while before I shot it. When I went to shoot it a year or so after I bought it MRC had already gone out of business. Had to hammer the bolt knob open to extract cases. After 3 shots I was done and it went back into the safe. My gunsmith wasn't taking on new work at the time.

I finally took it to him and he informed me that it had excessive headspace and was partially taking the no-go gauge. Chamber was a bit rough too. I paid him a couple hundred to fix the headspace issue and polish the chamber. Since getting it back it shoots about as expected with 200 grain Fusions. Haven't loaded any ammo for it. I'll probably keep it just because its somewhat of an oddball cartridge.

I had an X2 in 300 Win Mag. Very accurate and never had any problem feeding or ejecting, but it was a bit heavy.

Have an XWR that I bought off of a member here. Chambered in 300 win and it's an absolute tack driver. Has become my go to rifle anytime the weather is overcast. Much better trigger hands down when compared to some recent model 70s I inspected at cabelas. They had tons of trigger creep and were extremely dissappointing.

The MRC actions are the only ones I have used, where the first step was to go at it with a dead blow hammer and lead block, to straighten it out. Some of the small parts were very nicely made, but that was about it. GD
