I have a CZ 221 Fireball and I’m need of a magazine.

They are nowhere to be had, but I read somewhere that other 527 mags will work.

Can anyone help me out here, what other 527 mags will work in the Fireball?

Thanks

All I know about it is there’s a YouTube video where someone modified a 223 mag to work the Fireball. It basically shows the magazine and functionality but leaves out the explanation.

So I converted a 204 to 17 fireball. The difference is the button metal on the 204/223 guns has the slot for the metal magazines about 1/8 inch longer. In other works if you have a 221 rifle the longer 223 magazines will not fit.

The challenge for me was actually finding the correct bottom metal so i could run 221 magazines. I got lucky and found someone with an extra. I put that on and have been looking eBay over the last year and found mags.

With that said if you wanted to ever run the longer mags I do have an extra 223 bottom metal. They will kinda function with 221. I recommend a quick fast cycle of the bolt and adjusting the front and back mag spring tension by stretching or compressing. Not near as good as just running 221 mags.

If you found a 222 mag it might work. I would be interested to know

Until you find one that works, try James Calhoon for a single shot loading block. Not cheap, but better than nothing. They have a bunch of CZ stuff.

originalbobsled.com may have one as well. Call them, as they don’t show one, but may still have them.

Steve, I sold my 527 varmint along with what I thought was all my magazines. As it turned out, I had another one in my gun room that I forgot about.

It was a 204 Ruger that the barrel went from shooting very, very tight groups to opening up more than I could take. I sold the rifle to a guy that wanted to do a . 221 fireball build and didn’t care about the barrel. It may have been here or Accurate Shooter. He seemed quite sure that the magazines would work for him.

PM me if you are interested. It’s just taking up space here

actually that gun has become a 17 fireball, its probably my favorite rifle of all time. I have put over 1100 rounds through it in 9 months of use. the 204 mag will work, kinda, it works best if you cycle the bolt very fast and brisk so the case doesn't have a chance to dive down. I have since converted the gun over to a 221 trigger guard and magazines. it chokes down 17 fireball like a fat chick giving a BJ on a first date.

that barrel was a head shaker. I JB bore pasted it, then bore scoped it. your observations were accurate. never planned on it staying a 204 so it was a great deal for me. the fireball barrel shoots about .4 to 5/8" depending on its mood.
