Tried searching the archives and didn't see anything on this.
So what's the concensus on the future of the 325WSM? So far only Winchester is making ammo. Any word on whether Federal or Hornady will sign on to make ammo? The 300WSM seems to have staying power; how about the big brother?

Its been out long enough with out anybody making ammo for it to see the writing on the wall. If you reload your golden, but the last I heard (when I emailed Federal) was that they had no plans on putting out factory ammo for it. IMO thats been the biggest killer of the 325WSM, introducing a new cartidge that the ammo makers dont support hurts the average hunting Joe.

My prediction is that it will fade. Its only a fraction larger in diameter than .30". I might buy a odd cartridge to get a nice gun and thats the only reason I have two 8mm's. Nothing wrong with 8mm either its just that its so close to .3".

I really like mine. However, I have been stocking up on brass as I don't believe it is going to be around for long-I hope I am wrong about that!

It'll most likely be around in some form 10 years from now,if enough rifles sell; but I doubt it will ever be popular. What it does that a 30 cal of similar capacity does not do, completely escapes me.....

The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

The new Ruger caliber will kill it, we are so used to a 338 diameter. The 325WSM will go the way of the 8MM Rem Mag.

I think the .338RCM will be the death knell for the .325WSM.

I think that the 325 WSM is undoubtedly a very good and useful cartridge, and if there's any justice, it'll gain in popularity and stay with us. In a light, handy, useful rifle like the Kimber 8400 Montana or NULA, a cartridge like the 325 has a real niche.
Am I going to buy one? Likely not. My favorite all-around medium-bore rifle is good custom 338 Win. Mag. that I've used for a fair amount of hunting over the last five seasons, and I'd rather just keep on using it.........

Oakster, Mine is a Kimber Montana, and I really like it. I am shooting the 200gr Nosler Partition @2900fps using H4350 and Fed. 215M primers. I am having a lot of fun with this combination at present, I would be curious about the 200gr TSX as well. I really have no desire to try the Accubond but that is just me...

One of the gun rags, G & A I think it was, had a cover story on the 300RCM while I was hiding in the magazine ailse as the better half grocery shopped Monday. I am not altogther believing the RCM performance quotes & comparisons, and had really hoped that the Ruger/Hornady marriage spawn would have used the full length 375ruger hull for a 30 & 338 caliber entry so's I could use my M70 30calWMg for a Dust & Clean of the chamber with a slightly larger reamer to take out the belt with. Guess I'll have to wait a bit and see what/who else takes on that excercise in Mo Powah generation & mebbe even out power a 300wby in the standard length receiver...or just spend my near non existent and steadily declining bux's buying power on gasoline so's I can keep goin' huntin' and try and wear out what I already got ! Just reading the January edition of Rifle Magazine.
There is an article in there titled WSM popularity. According to the article the .325 WSM is selling second only to the .300 WSM. The .270 and 7mm WSM are lagging behind. One rifle manufacturer reports it is selling just as much as the .30-06.

verhoosits Your wish has been granted. Just saw an article where the 375 Ruger is being developed into 30 and 338 short magnums. But, they will be considerably shorter than the parent case, so it looks like you'll have to buy a new gun or have your rebarreled. Darn!
