Tried out a Mag Spark 209 primer unit on my Renegade today. I have a nearly full 5-pounder of BH 209 and was wondering if I should sell it on the Black Market. Looks like the answer is no. I fired about a dozen rounds of .45 XTPs in sabots and 338gr Power Belts with 80gr of BH and experienced no ignition issues at all, seemed as fast or faster than BP with regular caps. Accuracy was good too. The unit does need to be wiped out after maybe 7 or 8 shots to keep the primers from sticking, and the cap threads get gunked up a bit as well.

Didn’t try any other more traditional projectiles as I know from past experience that anything that doesn’t provide a good bit of bore resistance doesn’t work with BH. The Hornady PA conicals that I once tried in an inline popped out like champagne corks, leaving a pretty smoke trail behind them.

What fresh Hell is this?

Have used Mag Spark with BH 209 sucsesfully in several traditional sidelocks
Pedersoli makes a similar device for 209 primers and seems a little better made but performs the same reliability
