I've done it already. Changed the oil in my bride's Toyota Highlander yesterday. Toyota recommends 0W20. Thought I had a full 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 but it only had 3 quarts so I finished it up with Royal Purple 0W20 that I had used in my 2020 GMC and had a couple quarts left over. Is this a problem. Google has opinions both ways.

Unless the Toyota objected as you were pouring it into the crankcase, no problem. laugh

Both are fully synthetic bases so no compatibility problems.

The old story of using a different oil came about when detergent oils were new.

The Toyota didn't complain but that damn cartridge filter is a step backwards as far as I'm concerned. I didn't know what kind of filter it had for a couple of years because they changed the oil at no charge for the first 5 changes. When I started changing it I found the ears on the plastic cover had been stripped off at some point so I figure they just quit changing the filter. I bought a metal replacement cover and got a friend to get the plastic one off for me.

My 2020 GMC and 2005 Tundra both have spin on filters.

Mix the two in a snall cup and see if there is any reaction or issues.
