I am trying to find a Ruger American stainless or “all weather” in a 223. I would prefer a compact, but would consider a standard. I don’t need any optics, but might consider a whole setup. Thought I would put it on here and see if someone has one they would be willing to part with. Thanks

Good luck in your search. The SS Americans are getting harder and harder to find but well worth it when you do score one. My SS .223 compact punches well above its weight class and shoots several factory loads at or below an inch @ 100. I also have not experienced the issues with the rotory mags that alot of dudes have. Infact I prefer them as they fit flush and carry great in the field.

I have had great luck with any of the Americans I have or shot.

I have one. I bought it new thinking that for the money {about $450 then} I would get an all-weather rifle I could throw in the gator and have with me around the farm when needed and wouldn't have to worry about rust or dents and dings. Well, it was not very accurate...it would shoot a 3-inch group at 100. The trigger adjusts all the way down to about 9 pounds, so I bought a Timney for $190. Then, a quick borescope inspection revealed the barrel was junk...although stainless it appeared to have rust pits all in the metal. $200 more got me an Excaliber barrel that is excellent. The Tupperware soft plastic stock is a joke, so Boyd's got another $200 plus I glass bedded it. I now have a Ruger American 223 that shoots 1/4" at 100, but for the money I could have had a Sako. I call this thing the "six-million-dollar rifle". For $900 plus shipping it's yours, but for the money I'd suggest you go buy something else...I still have the original trigger, stock and barrel and you get those too, but it's all junk and not worth the shipping. The other issue with the Ruger American is the magazine. It feeds perfect, but they made it so you cannot seat the bullet out further for better accuracy without yet another modification. I really wish Ruger had the American stuck someplace I can't say!!!!

Mine was pretty easy to get shooting. Adjusted the trigger and then cut a couple of clips off the coil. 1/4-1/2" shooter with most 5.56 or .223

I have the Ruger American in .223 compact. Mine is blued and not stainless. It's a really handy rifle to carry on the ATV.
Good luck in your search.
