I have a Silencer Central Banish30. The baffles are titanium. What are you all using for cleaning carbon off of these?! The instructions just say use any quality cleaner, but I've tried both Hoppes and Cylinder & Slide's dunkit and still, the carbon does not come off. I can work it with a brass brush, but is anyone having any luck with anything that is good enough to soak and wipe off?

You might do a little research on CLR. Some say it is too harsh on SS but great on Ti.

I think the main ingredient in the Bore Tech line up of gun cleaning chemicals is General Motors carbon cleaner developed in their labs for emissions experiments. I have a friend who is a class 3 collector/shooter, and it's best thing he has found for machine guns.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I just checked out their web site and I found this: https://www.boretech.com/products/decimator-suppressor-cleanerI'll give it a shot!

What ever you use to penetrate and lift carbon, if you can soak it for 12ish hours then disassemble it and toss it into a rotary cleaner with SS pins you will be happy with the results.
Once you have it clean, soak all the parts in DOT 5 brake fluid (Silicone based) and then reassemble with high temp anti-seize on the threads.

CLR. It's really good. You might do a little research on CLR. Some say it is too harsh on SS but great on Ti. I have soaked uncoated 17-4 SS for more than a week with no problems. 5000 rnds of full auto builds up a bit of carbon.

I've had one can for 20 years and never cleaned it. Shoots fine and just as quiet as when I got it 3000 rounds ago.

We use Sea Foam on AR bolts and such, any problems with it on 17-4 SS?

I use any cleaner that I have a bunch of. I've used Ballistol, Hoppes, CLP, Bore Tech Carbon, or combination of them.
It is the pins doing the work. That's why ultrasonics don't work as well.

My old SAS Ti suppressor has had about 10,000 rounds through it when I decided to clean it last year. I soaked it for a week in CLR and didn't seem like I was getting much out until I started rapping on it with a rubber mallet, that's when I started having chunks, and I do mean chunks of carbon coming out. I was surprised at just how much carbon came out. The suppressor seemed to be as quiet as when I first bought it, but it sure as heck weighed less once I got done cleaning it.

Laws aren't preventative measures. In other words, more laws won't prevent gun crime from happening.

Weighing them is the easiest way to track fouling. Number of rounds helps, but ammo fouling is different based on the powder, load, etc. I would suggest that 10,000 rounds between cleaning is a little excessive.

50/50 transmission fluid and paint thinner. Put it in a container large enough to submerge the entire suppressor and let it soak. ATF has detergents in it designed to deal with carbon build up.

You might do a little research on CLR. Some say it is too harsh on SS but great on Ti. And I heard it was great on SS but hard on carbon steel. Erik Cortina video. GM/AC Delco top engine cleaner is a good carbon cleaner.

UPDATE: Boretech DECIMATOR SUPPRESSOR CLEANER works as advertised! I didn't even need Part B. Part A overnight and everything wiped clean. (I know Bortech tells you to leave it assembled, but I already had it apart so I soaked all the baffles & body that way). It went back together like it was brand new!

For those recommendingCLR, is it the regular one that says calcium, lime, rust on it? Or is it one of the ones that says or grills or outdoors or something?
