Crickets on the gunsmithing forum so trying here...
I'd like to replace the sling studs on a Husqvarna 1640 stock... the screw/threads are thicker than a standard Mike's set. Does someone make an aftermarket version of the wider ones, front and rear? (I'm replacing the original with one that doesn't have the strap attachment included.)
Thanks y'all.

I'm going to measure with a caliper once the kids are in bed and put up a photo.

Here are the stock sling studs w/ swivels from the 1640. They are identical (unlike a modern Uncle Mike's set with the different threading front and back). Both are .60" long and .243" wide. Pictures of threading below. Thoughts?

They are an odd size. I searched once to replace a rusted one. Just sand blasted and refinished the originals as I couldn’t find a replacement

are those just into the wood? don't really look like wood screws but maybe they are. If so, plug the hole with a dowel rod and use whatever you want.

Yes they're just into the wood. Obviously not interested in foregoing the sling, hence this thread...

Remove the portion the sling attaches to and attach the quick disconnect to the existing stud.

Remove the portion the sling attaches to and attach the quick disconnect to the existing stud. Trying that with a different set. They're pinned in and trying to see if I can undo without destroying. That said, the hole the swivel is through seems smaller than standard. So not sure it'll work anyway.

I went down a similar rabbit hole a few months ago. Here's a link to that thread: Link

Well, as much as I didn't want to destroy the original set, for lack of a more elegant solution, I cut the swivels, drilled the pin, and now need to touch up with alumahyde. Thankfully a standard swivel fits over the stud as is, so no need to mill flats on the sides.
I wonder how many folks would buy them if someone did a limited run of these studs...
