Would anyone of you out there have any old info on a Savage/Fox factory Trap Team that was here in Utica NY back in the day? I have spent time online & at the Oneida County Historical Society researching it and have come up dry. I have fallen across snippets on Savage factory baseball & bowling teams so I'm fairly confident that there would have been a trap team. I own an unique Fox Sterlingworth (1930s gun) that was purportedly owned by a member of said Trap team. Thanks. Tom

Sorry, I don’t know anything about a factory team. I’m sure others do. I’ve always wanted an old Sterlingworth 16. I’d love to see pics of yours. What are the details that make it unique? I know Roger, and others are quite knowledgeable on these. They will be along shortly.
I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

William Gough and his daughter Leaphy were notable trap shooters in Philadelphia. Possibly Utica as well. Search engine: Fulton History

Thanx for the responses men. Joe, it is a 20ga Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland game model. That was a model that came out during the Utica era for a few years. The S&U gun was essentially a Sterly with a straight grip. There were not a big number of them made and even fewer in a 20ga. This gun has ejectors, Fox Kautzky single select trigger, beavertail forend. No pad. The S&U game gun was catalogued with skeet cyl & 1/4 choke. My gun is choked full & Fuller..... which lends credence to the Trap team story. 20ga most uncommon for a trap double but not unheard of. Southern, yes, I'm very familiar with William & Leaphy thanks. His farmhouse property north of Utica was just a few miles from where I live. I've done alot of research on him/them. As a matter of fact I have their Gough embellished 20 ga AH Fox gun. I was very fortunate to acquire it from Gough's great granddaughter along with a bunch of special photos. (Some show them shooting Trap likely in PA) And yes, Fulton History is a valuable resource. Thanks again, Tom www.foxriversporting.com

I've definitely seen snippets of bowling team results in newspapers. Think I've seen baseball too. Can't remember trap shooting team off the top of my head, but never looked specifically for it.
