It was a warm fall here having zero days in November where the AM hunt was below freezing but overall the buck sightings were pretty solid. Solid season saw multiple deer on all but one hunt and for the first time in a while I tagged out. There is always opportunity to tag out but generally speaking I don't. First deer was a one that only showed up on trail cameras a couple of days before I got him, the other was one that I'd had on camera in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Just an older buck that was decent but not a whopper. In between there were plenty of hogs, a bobcat, and one of the bigger doe I've killed in the area. Since we are all a bunch of gun loonies the first buck was with my M70 in .300 Win mag, never killed a buck with that one. The second buck was with a LH M700 in 257 Weatherby Mag and the doe was with a 1976 Ruger #3 in .45-70 shooting 300g TTSX at a pedestrian 1800 fps. Grand total of "travel" was about 25 feet, and that was the doe.
I figured I'd share some pics from my season - please add yours!
Late Summer, in velvet and before he started chasing tail
A couple of days before he showed up
The morning I got him - nice and foggy, came out of the short pines to the left chasing a doe hard
Success!
December surprise - big tom!
Sunday evening bullets flying
The start of the work, dragging it out of the briers
For central GA, this is a pig of a doe
Mid December buck #2, a beautiful AM
