It was a warm fall here having zero days in November where the AM hunt was below freezing but overall the buck sightings were pretty solid. Solid season saw multiple deer on all but one hunt and for the first time in a while I tagged out. There is always opportunity to tag out but generally speaking I don't. First deer was a one that only showed up on trail cameras a couple of days before I got him, the other was one that I'd had on camera in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Just an older buck that was decent but not a whopper. In between there were plenty of hogs, a bobcat, and one of the bigger doe I've killed in the area. Since we are all a bunch of gun loonies the first buck was with my M70 in .300 Win mag, never killed a buck with that one. The second buck was with a LH M700 in 257 Weatherby Mag and the doe was with a 1976 Ruger #3 in .45-70 shooting 300g TTSX at a pedestrian 1800 fps. Grand total of "travel" was about 25 feet, and that was the doe.

I figured I'd share some pics from my season - please add yours!

The morning I got him - nice and foggy, came out of the short pines to the left chasing a doe hard

I expected it to be at the feeder 175y away and instead 40y trotting shot smile . I haven't used this gun on a buck since 2010, so good to get it back into the woods.

I'm not getting any younger and getting that sucker on this ATV wasn't exactly a lot of fun. One of the few deer that actually looks bigger OTG than in pictures, because it was a big bodied bastard for the area.

Here was the live picture. He damaged his left brow in velvet, deer didn't really grow at all from last year but was bigger than 2020.

Outstanding!

That foggy-morning pines photo drips with "buck slippin' through".

Nice critters - congrats!

Thanks man - it's actually the first time I've had my own piece of property where I'm the only one that hunts it, other than anyone I invite.

Buzz, Where in Georgia? I bought some land in Lauren's County (Dublin) There is something special about taking a deer on your property and having the freedom to do what you want when you want.

Nice pics fellows. Buzz the pic of the doe with the Ruger #3 made me flinch! I had a #3 and it was the kickingest little rifle I've ever shot. Sent it down the road. laugh

It's nasty man, hence the barely trapdoor level 300g bullet at 1800 fps wink Even at that level it still isn't exactly fun to shoot. I've debated sending it on but there is a strange nostalgia attached to them with me from when I was a teenager. I should have bought the one in 30-40 Krag instead.
