Just picked up a S&W Shield optics cut slide. I’m new to red dot optics. What brands and models are reliable for CCW use? Is there a standard footprint or do I need to shop for a specific footprint to fit the 9mm shield slide? This came with standard height 3dot irons if that makes a difference, or do I need to get taller sights if I run a red dot? What are you guys using on your Shields? Thanks

My Shield Plus is factory cut for the Shield RMSc footprint. It's still the wild west with these things and 57 different footprints.

I have a Swampfox Sentinel on mine, but be aware that none of the screws that come with it match. You'll need 6-32 screws. I pulled 2 off an old set of Talley rings.

Thanks Dave
That looks like it fits pretty flush on the sides
How does the red dot line up in relation to your iron sights?

Lower 1/3rd co-witness with factory sights. If you are military/leo you can get a good deal on them.

It's a shake awake sight, I went with a green dot. The downside to such a small sight that will co-witness with factory sights is that you do have to remove it to change the battery. But a few shots after will verify zero again.

What base plate do you need to attach that to a S&W Shield? Thanks
