Just bought some powder (all I could find) for loading a 45-70. X-terminator and Accurate 2230. Also bought a Hogden 2023 reloading magazine. Looked up the reloading data on the Ramshot website for the same powders and bullet. Bullet is a Hornady 325g FTX. The Ramshot data says 41.6 to 53.9g of either powder, The data in the 2023 Hogden mag shows 37.5 to 41.6g A RATHER LARGE DIFFERANCE... One max is the others minimum?? Opinions?

There are usually 3 different loads for a 45-70. Trapdoor level, modern something and forget the top level. Depends a lot what you are shooting. I shot a Marlin 1895 a while and that one handles pressures well. I would venture a guess it has something to do with that?

The Ramshot data you cite going to 53.9 is for high pressure loads, the ones you cite from Hodgdon are the same as Ramshot standard pressures loads. So yes a difference.

I will look again, Modern lever action, Henry Big Boy. Should be the same as 95 Marlin.

Looked again, ... High pressure loads. Guess that would be for Ruger #1 etc. So Modern Lever Action would be standard pressure.
