Picked up a .50 Renegade at an auction. Hammer snaps down with pull of the main trigger, but set the rear and pull the main it only snaps down half way and stops. Any ideas?

Trigger is out of adjustment, but my brain
isn't functioning well enough at the moment
to vocalize what to do about it adjusting-wise

If you take it out of the stock, and it does the same thing, then it is not stock interference. That cuts the problem solving in half.
May be the tumbler under the bridle. The notch chips off if dry fired a lot. Or knapping flints, assuming it is a flintlock.

Have you checked the screws inside the lock and made sure they’re snugged down? I bought one that was all loose inside and when I tried to shoot it, it behaved as you descibed. Oiled it and tightened the screws and all was well.
Incidentally, if you have any BH209 lying around you may want to try it with a Mag Spark unit. I left mine loaded for a week after the weather kept me in during our late season. Yesterday I was at the range for something else and emptied it downrange. Ignition was fast as ever. I’m really sold on those. Ordered a couple of spares in case I fumble the cap in the field. Cleanup is really easy too with the BH solvent, way easier than my inline was.
What fresh Hell is this?

Could be the fly is broken/missing. Its whole purpose is to prevent what is happening. Could be stuck.

I suspect the fly as well. May be put in upside down even. There’s a long side to stop it half cocked. On an InvestArms lock it’s edges are rounded slightly on the side that faces up and the back is also shinier. It’s a stamped part but mine has a black finish on the face side and appears ground slightly.

Fly missing or backwards. Sear is falling in the half cock notch. Get someone who knows how to set your trigger adjustments to help you.

Yes, the two bridle screws have backed out so the fly is not letting the hammer fall past the half cock notch.
Leave the gun, take the canolis.
